As the 2017 Karate National Open Championship begins in Abuja this Tuesday, the National President, Karate Federation of Nigeria, His Excellency, Mr. Silas Ali Agara has called for active participation by all contingents in order to sharpen their skills ahead of future global events.

The president of the Federation made the call in a statement ahead of the championship which is slated for Tuesday, 21st to Saturday, 25th November, 2017 at the National Stadium, Abuja.

According to Mr. Silas Ali Agara who is also the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, the Championship is the second major event to be sponsored by the Federation since its inauguration in July this year.

He implored participants from the 36 States, including the FCT to take the championship seriously as the Federation hopes to use the event as the platform for selecting athletes that will represent the country at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo-Japan.

While urging the athletes, coaches and referees to strive towards actualizing the nation’s dream of placing the game on world map of recognition, Mr. Agara further wished them a hitch free competition, thereby appealing to the participants to abide by the rules of the game.

He equally assured of the Board’s support towards a successful championship.
