INEC Cancelled 138,706 Votes in Saturday’s Governorship poll
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Nasarawa State cancelled 138,706 votes in the just concluded governorship and state assembly elections in the state due to over-voting, ballot snatching and insecurity.
Most of the cancellations were in areas where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was leading.
Prof. Abdullahi Bala, returning officer for the election in the state disclosed this while declaring results of the polls on Monday in Lafia.
Bala attributed the cancellation of the votes from 59 polling units across the state to over-voting, ballot snatching and insecurity.
He said that 96,973 votes were cancelled from 27 polling units in Karu Local Government Area and 22,891 from 15 polling units in Nasarawa Local Government Area.
