Eggon Nation Endorses PDP’s Ombugadu for Saturday’s Governorship polls
The 2019 Governorship/State Assembly election is slated for Saturday 9th March 2019 across 9th country and in Nasarawa State the fight for who becomes the Nasarawa number one citizen is said to be a 3 horse race between 3 political parties The PDP,APC and APGA who the party involved has popular flag bearer. The PDP is been represented by a young Vibrant 2 term house of Representative member Hon. Davematic David E Ombugadu while the APC parades a business manager and former Director General of Dangote Sugar refinery ENGR Abdullahi .A. Sule and APGA is in the race with a former commissioner, deputy governor, Minister of Information and Defence Hon. Labaran Maku who also was a contestant during 2015 polls but lost out to the incumbent Governor Tanko Al-Makura of the APC.
The above is the news but in Nasarawa state since its creation has never had an Eggon Governor, though the Eggons claims they have the highest population in the state. In years past some Eggons have tried to occupy the Shendam road government house to no avail but never have they been soo opportuned to have won the primaries in a major political party as in this dispensation when the young Ombugadu despite all odd came out victorious duringPDP’s primary defeating fellow Eggon man Senator Solomon Ewuga and other contestants. Labaran Maku on the other hand had a free ride as he got the ticket to represent APGA by a unanimous vote.
Now the 2 Eggons Labaran Maku and David Ombugadu have been in serious campaigns despite calls from Eggon People and lovers of Eggons for a consensus Eggon Candidate to grant them a better chance of winning the election.
Worthy to note also is that both Maku and David are Christians being that since creation of Nasarawa state No Christian Governor has been produced as such the Christian community had also called both candidates to a meeting trying to persuade one to make a sacrifice of surrendering his ambition to the other but their effort hit a brick wall as both refused their suggestions.
But recently The Eggon Cultural Development Association ECDA which is he highest decision making body in Eggon land aside the traditional council, had constituted a committee to come up with a suggestion for a candidate the Eggons will present to their voters both from and outside their ethnicity. The committee is done with their task and below I the transcript of their report as presented and made available to Nasarawa Focus.
IN A SPEECH DELIVERED BY CHIEF ALAKU WILBERFORCE, ECDA NATIONAL PRESIDENT DURING THE ADOPTION OF REPORT OF THE INDEPENDENT COMMITTEE SET UP BY ECDA CHAIRED BY PROF. Francis Akwash FOR THE CONSIDERATION AND PRESENTATION OF ONE EGGON SON FOR GOVENOSHIP RACE IN NASARAWA STATE COME 9TH MARCH, 2019
To God be the glory the long awaited day is here.
Ladies and gentlemen, you will recall that in view of the fact that five of our Eggon sons are contesting for the seat of Governorship in Nasarawa State come March 9th 2019, a call was made, suggestion taken and resolution was arrived at for the constitution of an independent committee which came up with a position of direction as widely suggested.
You will recall that the committee which was chaired by Prof.
Francis Akwash was given ample opportunity to execute its assignment by reaching out to all the contestant, other tribes, political parties, major stake holders in the State, cells and group before arriving at submitting the report of their findings and recommendation for adoption hence this gathering.
The report which was presented to the ECDA National Executive is so serving for the overall interest of the Eggon Nation and well meaning indigene of Nasarawa State as we so find.
Consequently, the committee after a painstaking exercise come up with an undiluted position and direction that we should all collapse our interest to work for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Hon. David E. Ombugadu.
Eggon-Eggon! I know as a fact that urging us to collapse our respective interest is not simple task to make but for the purpose of achieving our goal for the overall interest of our dear State, this belief to be a sacrifice worth making.
I urge all affected aspirant and the Eggon Nation to all key in the direction of the committee report, embrace the finding, analysis and conclusion contain therein as the key factor consider for our resolution while wooing for the support of other tribes and residence of Nasarawa State.
The committee report is hereby adopted as presented.
Thank you God bless Eggon Nation.
– CHIEF ALAKU WILBERFORCE
