Ya’u, made the call in a statement issued by the Mr Innocent Pada, Director General of his campaign organisation and made available to newsmen in Lafia, the State capital
He noted that campaigns targeted at defamatory or attacking the personality of political opponents would contribute to over heat the polity.
The statement noted that the attention of the campaign Organisation was drawn to reports in some section of the media that their candidate was arrested in connection with a sexual assault scandal involving a married woman.
The report allegedly accused Dr Ya’u of pestering the said married woman for sexual gratification in order to secure admission for her at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi where he served as the Director of Information Communication Technology (ICT).
According to the statement, “The said scandalous report is unfounded, untrue, ill motivated and the handiwork of our political detractors bent on dragging the reputation of our candidate in the mud.
“We would like to put the record straight by saying that our candidate does not have the power to offer admission to any student and would never engage in any action that would undermine the laid down pre-requisite for admission into the universtsiy.
“Our candidate does not know, have not spoken or met with the said woman in the report before, adding that he was never arrested nor spoke with any journalist on any issue relating to sexual assault as being speculated by the fictitious report,” He said.
The Organisation urged supporters of the APC candidate to remain calm and committed to the vision and benefits of quality representation that aw ait them after the 2019 general election.
