Two officers killed in an ambush along Akwanga-Keffi road.

Two police officers serving in Kokona Division on patrol were on Friday night  ambushed and killed by unknown gunmen along Akwanga-Keffi highway in Nasarawa state.

The spokesperson of the state police command, Idrisu Kennedy, who confirmed the incident, said the slain officers were ambushed while on lawful duty.

He said they were attacked around Mandara village near Garaku, the headquarters of Kokona Local Government Area, of the state and that the attack took place Friday night.

“Police officers from our command in Garaku who were on patrol along Akwanga-Keffi highway, were ambushed by unknown gunmen and two were killed. Investigation has commenced to uncover who were behind the dastard act” he said.

The PPRO who declined to mention the names of the slain officers, explained that the officers were five stationed at the check point, due frequent robbery attacks at that particular point, where two were killed.

Idrisu, called on the people of the state to report any suspicious movement or activities to the law enforcement agencies for prompt action.
