Tiv community in Kadarko protests Fulani attacks
Tiv Community of Kadarko in the Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa State has protested alleged persistence attacks and forceful occupation of their farmlands by people believed to be Fulani herders.
Speaking to journalists at Kadarko, Nasarawa State, on Thursday, the spokesperson for the Tiv community in Kadarko, Mr William Audu, alleged that the paramount ruler in the area, the Osukadarko, Mr Usman Dodo, conspired with the Fulani herders to confiscate their lands.
He, however, alleged that since the emergence of the paramount ruler on the throne about one year ago, he had been treating the Tiv Community in Kadarko as non-indigenes which had exposed them to incessant attacks and forceful occupation of their lands by suspected herdsmen.
Accorded to him, most communities particularly at the hinterlands could no longer go to their farms for fear of being attacked as there were no security presence in the areas citing the case of two residents of Kadarko who were recently attacked by suspected herdsmen while working on their farms as a case in point.
He called on the Nasarawa State Government to urgently intervene by deploying more security agencies to the border communities.
Reacting to the issue, the Paramount Ruler refuted any involvement in forceful taking over of lands belonging to the Tiv people in the area Kadarko.
