Police arraign 2 men for calling woman a “witch” in Mararaba

Judicial staff who assaulted Nasarawa Chief Judge to be prosecuted

The Police on Wednesday arraigned two men- Ankeni Olawudoh, 55 and Wan Igyo, 33, in a Mararaba Upper Area Court, Nasarawa State, for allegedly calling a woman a witch.

The defendants of different addresses, are charged with two counts of criminal conspiracy and defamation of character.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Hamen Donald, told the court that on April 4, one Christiana Shushinja of Aso A, Mararaba, reported the matter at the “A” Division Police Station, Mararaba, Nasarawa State.

Donald alleged that the defendants conspired with four others still at large, ans called the complainant a witch during an argument.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 97 and 392 of the Penal Code.

The Judge, Ibrahim Shekarau, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100, 000, each with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until April 25, for hearing. (NAN)
