A student of Nasarawa State Polytechnic, a Lady identified as Miss Elizabeth have lost her life in a Truck-bike accident on Wednesday in Lafia.
Punch Newspaper reported that a commercial motorcycle conveying the deceased was knocked down on the Abdulahi Adamu Estate-Jos Road, Lafia, by a mini-bus and the on-coming truck ran over her and she died on the spot.
The deceased was said to have just left an Automated Teller Machine(ATM), where she had gone to withdraw the sum of N1,000 to pay complete the payment for a pair of shoe she bought from a vendor at the state polytechnic when the incident occurred.
An eyewitness told our correspondent that the driver of the truck alighted from his vehicle and slumped on seen the mangled body of the deceased in between his vehicle’s tyres.
Passersby revived him and rushed him to the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia.
Personnel of the Federal Road Safety Commission deposited the remains of the deceased in the hospital’s mortuary.
The Secretary of the Heavy Trucks Association in the state, Mr Musa Bahago, who was at the scene of the accident, said he and other members of the body were called upon when the crash occurred.
He accused commercial motorcyclists in the state for rough riding and disobedience to traffic rules, adding that the accident was caused by the recklessness of the motorcyclist.
This, he said, was the reason why the commercial motorcyclist, who escaped unhurt, disappeared from the scene as soon as the crash occurred.
