Nasarawa State Government said on Thursday it would arrest and prosecute officials caught diverting palliatives meant for vulnerable persons in the state.

Chairman Task Force Committee on COVID-19, who is also the state Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, gave the warning in lafia.

Akabe also stated that over 400 health officials had been trained to man the facilities at the isolation centres.

He said, “As I am talking to you now, there are over 360 mattresses already and we have placed order for 200 beds which will be coming next week.”

He explained that the palliative measures target essentially the underprivileged without salaries.

“Anybody that works for government that collects any form of salary either local government staff, state or federal governments staff still struggle to benefit from this palliative measures will be unfair, ungodly, will be evil and devilish and such person should be condemned,” he said, saying that salaries had been paid.

Any attempt by the representatives of the governor at the 13 local government areas of the state to divert the food items meant for the vulnerable would be dealt with.
