Nasarawa Lawmaker presents PPE to Journalistsm
The member representing Keana Constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Adamu Omadefu has advocated provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to media practitioners against infection of coronavirus while discharging their duties.
He made the call yesterday while presenting a package of facemasks and cash to members of the Correspondents chapel of the Nigeria of Journalists (NUJ), Nasarawa State Council.
The lawmaker argued that as frontline workers in the fight against coronavirus, journalists deserved to be provided with Personal Protective Equipment and stimulus to motivate them in carrying out their reportorial duties.
Omadefu, also the Chairman, House Committee on Information, raised the sensitising role of media practitioners on coronavirus, stating that he decided to embark on advocacy visit to media houses in the state to sensitise the public on coronavirus and the need to adhere to precautinary gears to prevent the spread of the disease.
Receiving the items, Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nasarawa State, Isaac Ukpoju, lauded the lawmaker for the items, saying that they would go along way in assisting his members in protecting themselves while at work.
