Nasarawa Government declares Total lockdown in Nasarawa LG
A total lockdown has been imposed on Nasarawa local government area, hometown of a lawmaker who died of Covid-19 in Nasarawa state.
The state information and culture commissioner Dogo Shammah announced the lockdown after an expanded meeting to review measures to contain further spread of coronavirus.
The measures make it mandatory to wear face masks from Wednesday.
Chairman of Nasarawa Local Government, Mohammed Otto said, “I am calling on my people to abide by the decision of the state government to lockdown the Local Government, this is for the overall interest of the people to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.”
Meanwhile, restrictions on Karu local government area, which bothers Abuja, have been lifted.
Justice commissioner Abdulkarim Kana said the lifting the lockdown was decided after agreement that the essence of the lockdown had been attained.
The lockdown has been replaced with a curfew between 8pm and 6am.
Kana said all other restrictions, including the ban on all social and religious gatherings remain banned.
