No Medical Report No Marriage Bill In Nasarawa State House of Assembly.

A bill that will prohibit couples from getting married without medical report is Nasarawa State in before the Nasarawa state house of Assembly.

The bill which was is been sponsored by, Hon. Murtala Sodangi, member representing Nasarawa West constituency has already scaled through first and second reading at the floor of the House in Lafia.

According to Hon. Sodangi, if passed into law the bill will help in building confidence of prospective marriage couples without doubt and will also help the state to know the total population of persons living with HIV/AIDS, Hypothesis, Tuberculosis and other communicable diseases.

Supporting the bill were, Makpa Malla, member representing Wamba constituency, Mohammed Alkali, member representing Lafia-North and Mohammed Sani, member representing Obi 1, all described the bill as timely, adding that the bill will help in attenuating  transmission of diseases amongst couples if passed into law..

The bill has been forwarded to the Joint House Standing Committee on Health and Judiciary for further action by the Speaker of the house Hon Ibrahim Abdullahi Balarabe.

The bill could not be unconnected with the recent statistics which revealed that 54 babies were born HIV Positive in the state



  1. This bill shows that we still have people in position who still care for the well being of the citizens. I know for sure that it will scale through and pass into law.
