The Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa in Nasarawa State, Esv. Abdullahi Alhassan-Ahmed, has said the institution received and would act on letters of interest from four Chinese institutions on collaboration to offer courses on railway transport technology. Alhassan-Ahmed, made the disclosure in an interview with newsmen at the institution in Nasarawa local government area of the state, yesterday.
He said if all processes are completed, the institution will be the first to offer such course and the collaboration would yield massive dividends for the country in terms of trained hands and local capacity for the railway sector in the country. “As I am talking to you right now, we have received letters of interest from four universities in China for collaboration on railway technology.
You hardly can find that in any institution in Nigeria. So we are trying to pioneer that. We will soon send our officials to those institutions in China on modalities for the collaboration,” he said.
Alhassan-Ahmed also revealed that the institution has secured collaboration with Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna, to provide resource persons for some degrees programmes in the institution and the institution is also in talks with Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria among others on collaboration in some other degree courses.
