Emir of Lafia HRH Alh.Isa Mustapha Agwai 1 is dead.
The Lafia Emirate council has been thrown into a mourning mood following the demise of the paramount ruler His Royal Highness Alhaji Mustapha Agwai (I) the first Emir of Lafia whose death occurred in the Thursday afternoon of 10th January 2019 at the national hospital following a protracted illness at the age of 84.
The late Dr. Isa Mustapha Agwai I was born on February 15, 1935 at Kofar Kaura in Lafia town. He was the 16th Emir of Lafia, and celebrated his 44th coronation anniversary last year.
He was selected by the Lafia emirate’s kingmakers on May 15, 1974 and was presented the staff of office by the then governor of Benue/Plateau state, Joseph D. Gomwalk, on October 26, 1974 at the Lafia stadium, now known as the Lafia Square.
Until his demise he is the chairman Nasarawa State council of Chiefs, Chairman of Nasarawa State Inter Religious Council Also, he was the National Vice Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Nigeria, (NSCIA) and the national Vice Chairman of Jama’atu Nastril Islam (JNI) among others.
The body of the Emir will be taken from Abuja this morning 11th January 2019 to Lafia where the final internment will take place immediately after the Jummat prayer. Meanwhile the Governor of Nasarawa state His Excellency Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has described the late Monarch as a peace loving man whose death is a colossal loss not only to the people of Nasarawa state but the country at large, he however prayed God to grant him Ajena tu fidause.
