Pursue peace between herders, farmers, Al-Makura to Tiv leaders.
Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has called on Tiv leaders in the state to spearhead dialogue through peace process that will result in lasting peace between herders and farmers in the state.
Al-Makura who stated this yesterday in Obi Local Government Area during the grand reception in honour of the newly elected officials of Tiv Development Association (TIDA), said he was elated with the peaceful electoral process that saw the emergence of new TIDA leaders in the state.
Represented by state Commissioner for Commerce, Industries and Cooperatives Tanko Zubairu, Al-Makura said that given the peaceful manner and maturity in which the new TIDA exco were elected and sworn in, they must replicate the gesture by spearheading reconciliation, dialogue and a peaceful process between herders and farmers giving that Tiv people were predominantly farmers.
In his speech, new President of TIDA in the state Boniface Ifer, assured that his exco would work hard to ensure that Tiv people lived in harmony with herders and other ethnic groups.
